War Radar — Terms of Use
Version 2.0 · Effective 30 September 2026
1. Who we are
1.1. The website warradar.org, its language versions and feeds, and any maps, exports or alerts offered on it (together, the "Service") are run as a private, non-commercial project by a private individual ("we", "us"). The Service has no paid features and carries no advertising.
1.2. Contact: [email protected].
2. These Terms
2.1. These Terms of Use (the "Terms") apply to your use of the Service. By using the Service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2.2. If we offer alerts, you will be asked to accept these Terms expressly before subscribing.
2.3. Our Privacy Policy, Data licenses and Methodology pages are part of the information about the Service. The Methodology page is provided for information only and promises no results.
2.4. "Consumer" means an individual using the Service outside their trade, business or profession.
3. What the Service is — and what it is not
3.1. An informational guess, not a forecast. The levels shown (Low, Elevated, High, Very high) are produced by an automated formula from what is being published and reported about each country. They reflect how tense the information field around a country looks, compared with the past. They are not a forecast, prediction, warning or expert assessment, and nobody checks them by hand before they are published.
3.2. Extremely approximate. The levels are crude and often wrong. They raise false alarms and miss real events. A high level does not mean that anything will happen. A low level does not mean that a place is safe. Past figures shown on the Service describe the past only.
3.3. Country-level only. A level describes a whole country. Conditions in particular regions, cities or places can be very different.
3.4. Not a statement of fact or opinion. The levels are machine output. They are not statements of fact about any country, government, population, organisation or person, and express no political opinion or judgment. The same formula is applied to every country.
3.5. "Happening now" markers and the events feed are compiled automatically from public reports. They may be late, incomplete or wrong and do not confirm that any event took place.
3.6. Not advice and not an official source. The Service is not a travel advisory, not an emergency warning system, and not safety, security, legal, financial, investment, insurance or other professional advice. It is not issued or endorsed by any government, international organisation or data provider.
3.7. Your decisions are your own. Do not base decisions about travel, evacuation, relocation, personal safety, security or humanitarian operations, investments, insurance or business on the Service. Follow official guidance from your government and local authorities and consult qualified professionals.
4. Third-party data
4.1. The Service relies on publicly available data published by others, listed with their licences on our Data licenses page. We do not control or verify that data. It may contain errors, gaps, bias or delays, and may change or stop being published.
4.2. Use of a provider's data does not mean the provider endorses the Service or is responsible for it. Links to other websites are provided for convenience only.
5. Updates and availability
5.1. We usually update the Service daily, but we do not promise any schedule. Each page shows the date of its data. Information may be out of date when you read it.
5.2. We do not guarantee that the Service is accurate, complete, current, uninterrupted or error-free.
5.3. We may change the formula, levels, countries, features or design, or suspend or close the Service, at any time and without notice.
6. Maps, borders and names
6.1. Maps are simplified illustrations, not authoritative representations of borders, and must not be used for navigation.
6.2. Crimea, Sevastopol and other internationally recognised territories of Ukraine under temporary occupation are shown as part of Ukraine, in line with UN General Assembly resolutions 68/262 and ES-11/4. The depiction of any other disputed area expresses no position on its status.
6.3. Country names follow common usage and may differ from official names.
7. Alerts (if offered)
7.1. Alerts are generated automatically from the same data and formula; Sections 3–6 apply to them in full.
7.2. Alerts may be late, missing, duplicated or wrong, and delivery depends on email and messaging providers. They are not an emergency or life-safety system. The absence of an alert means nothing.
7.3. You must be at least 16 to subscribe and may only subscribe your own address or account. You can unsubscribe at any time, free of charge, via the link in every message or by writing to us.
7.4. We may end alerts or remove inactive subscriptions at any time.
8. Using our content
8.1. Unless stated otherwise, the maps, levels and texts of the Service are licensed under CC BY 4.0. When reusing them, credit "War Radar (warradar.org)", link to the page, say if you changed anything, and keep this notice: "Rough automated guess, not a forecast or advice — see warradar.org/en/terms.html."
8.2. You must not present our levels as a forecast, an official advisory or an expert assessment, or suggest that we endorse you.
8.3. The licence does not cover the War Radar name and logo, the site's code and design, or third-party data (which keeps its own licence).
8.4. Please use our feeds rather than scraping; automated access must respect robots.txt and must not burden the Service.
9. Acceptable use
Do not interfere with or overload the Service, bypass its restrictions, use it in breach of the law (including sanctions laws), or misrepresent our content as described in Section 8.2.
10. Access from other countries
We do not claim that the Service is lawful to access everywhere; you are responsible for the laws that apply to you. We may restrict access from any country or person where the law requires or where we consider it appropriate. Persons subject to sanctions of Ukraine, the EU, the UK, the US or the UN may not subscribe to alerts or use bulk data.
11. Corrections
If you believe something is wrong, write to [email protected] with the page address. We do not change individual levels on request; the same formula applies to every country. If we find an error in the data or its processing, we correct it. Wrong "Happening now" markers or events are corrected or removed.
12. No warranties
The Service is free and provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we give no warranties of any kind, including as to accuracy, completeness, timeliness, availability or fitness for any purpose. This does not limit Section 13.1.
13. Limitation of liability
13.1. What we do not exclude. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, for fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.
13.2. Subject to 13.1, we are not liable for any loss arising from: (a) any decision or action taken, or not taken, on the basis of the Service; (b) errors, omissions or delays, including in third-party data; (c) unavailability of the Service; (d) alerts not delivered, delayed or wrong; (e) reuse of our content by others; (f) third-party websites or services.
13.3. Subject to 13.1, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profit, business, opportunity or data.
13.4. Subject to 13.1, our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to EUR 100, because the Service is free.
13.5. Each limitation is a separate provision; if one is invalid, the others remain.
13.6. If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms affects rights you have under mandatory consumer law of the country where you live.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. Each version shows its number and date; material changes are announced on the Service. Changes do not apply to disputes that arose earlier.
15. Law and disputes
15.1. These Terms are governed by the law of Ukraine. Disputes are heard by the competent courts of Ukraine.
15.2. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live and may sue there where that law allows.
15.3. Before going to court, please write to [email protected] so that we can try to settle the matter within 30 days.
16. General
16.1. If any provision is invalid, it applies to the extent it is valid and the rest of the Terms remain in force.
16.2. The English version prevails over translations, except where mandatory law requires otherwise.
16.3. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our control, including war and hostilities, missile or drone attacks, air-raid alerts, power or network outages, cyberattacks and failures of hosting or network providers.
16.4. Contact: [email protected].
